George Heiges, Sr., 78, of Elimsport, died Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Watsontown Health and Rehab Center.
He was born February 11, 1940 in Muncy, a son of the late Donald and Edna (Adams) Heiges. On October 17, 1971, he married the former Lois Ruch and together they celebrated 41 years of marriage before her death on July 23, 2013.
George was a 1958 graduate of Montgomery High School. He retired in 1995 from the former American Home Foods, now ConAgra, Milton.
He enjoyed playing bingo and used to run the Turbot Twp. Bingo Hall with his wife.
George loved hunting, fishing and golfing.
Surviving are one son, George Heiges, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Elimsport; one step son, Ronald Karschner and his husband, Charles Stiefel, of Hendersonville, NC; one step daughter, Cindy Smith and her husband, Larry, of Danville, one brother, Jack Heiges and his wife, Marsha, of West Virginia; two sisters, Helen Fisher, of Watsontown and Mary Weber and her husband, Phil, of White Deer; six grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Jaimie, Lindsay, Alisha and Erin; and three great-grandchildren, Riley, Charlotte, and Everett.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one daughter, FranKay (Heiges) Tiesler; and two brothers, Donald Heiges, Jr. and Arthur Heiges.
The family is planning a graveside service to be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery with the Rev. Robert Barner, officiating. A time of fellowship and light refreshment will follow the service at the Turbotville Hotel, 305 Main St. Turbotville.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St. Watsontown.
