Gregory L. Geedey

December 2, 1967 — September 11, 2020

Gregory L. Geedey, 52, of Winfield, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 11, 2020 at his home.

He was born on December 2, 1967 in Lewisburg, a son of the late Carl L. and Patricia A. (Reitz) Geedey.  On October 16, 1999 he married the former Carol Bentlage, who survives.  Together they celebrated 20 years of marriage.

Greg was a 1986 graduate of Lewisburg High School.  He worked at the Weis Market’s Distribution Center, Milton for more than 25 years.

Greg enjoyed golfing with his family.  He even built a few sets of clubs for his brothers. He hit a hole-in-one at a par three golf course.  The golf ball rolled all the way into the hole.

He was also a fan of at-home projects.  He was an avid user of duct tape, it seemed like he believed it could fix everything.

He enjoyed movies by comedians, especially ones with John Candy, Chris Farley, and Rodney Dangerfield (who people thought Greg resembled).

Greg was also a very talented guitar player.  He would play his favorite songs on his electric guitar by ear. Greg bonded with his family and friends through music, playing “Simple Man” “Gimme Three Steps” and “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd in the basement of his house.

Greg was an extremely lovable, memorable man with a great sense of humor, who always knew how and when to make his wife, family, and friends laugh.  He was a great listener, and he made his children feel loved.  Greg left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be remembered fondly and always be missed.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Mackenzie and Jacob Geedey, both at home; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jeffrey Geedey and Nathan and Alicia Geedey, all of Winfield.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020 in the St. John the Wonderworker Cemetery, formerly the Chestnut Hills Cemetery, Winfield.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
