Guy L. "Tinker" Young, Jr., 91, a longtime resident of Dewart, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Nottingham Village, Northumberland where he was admitted the previous day.
He was born on April 21, 1924 in Dewart, the son of the late Guy L. Sr. and Marian A. (Krug) Young.
Guy was a 1943 graduate of Watsontown High School. He worked at the former Dewart Milk Products and Penn Supreme Ice Cream before taking ownership of Young's Hardware, Dewart, which was a family business started by his grandfather in 1893, and remained open until the spring of this year.
He was a life member of the First Lutheran Church, Watsontown, a member of Lodge #401 F&AM, Watsontown and the Williamsport Consistory.
Guy enjoyed going out to eat with his family and friends.
Surviving are one sister, Doris Moore, of Milton; one nephew and three nieces; and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Harold E. Moore.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stanley Bower, officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 9:45 a.m. prior to the visitation.
Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.
The family welcomes flowers, however, if desired, memorial contributions in Guy's name may be made to either the First Lutheran Church, 400 Main St., Watsontown, PA 17777 or the Watsontown Masonic Lodge #401, Building Fund, PO Box 158, McEwensville, PA 17749 (please make checks payable to Watsontown Lodge Building Fund).
