Harold Raymond Drick

Harold Raymond Drick, 85, of Sunnyside Farm, 387 Drick Rd., Pennsdale, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on Psalm Sunday, March 24, 1929 in Montoursville, he was a son of the late Russell William and Florence Beatrice (Zimmerman) Drick. On June 26, 1952 he married the former Helen Irene Fry, who preceded him in death November 28, 1994. Together they celebrated 42 years of marriage.
Harold grew up in Montoursville, where his family ran Drick’s Dairy. In February of 1945 he moved to Sunnyside Farm, Pennsdale. Harold was a 1947 graduate of the Muncy-Muncy Creek High School, where he was a member of the FFA vocational agricultural club and known as “Barney”. He also served as the club secretary. Harold was a self-employed grain and Holstein dairy farmer.
He was a member of the Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church since July 6, 1947, (68 Years). Harold was an original charter member of the Muncy Township Volunteer Fire Company, formed May 19, 1949, (66 Years), where he served as past president and assistant chief. Harold was involved in forming the Muncy Area Mutual Aid Association and naming it MAMA. He was a member of the PA Farm Bureau, the PA Farmers’ Association (PFA), the Lycoming County Farmers Association, the PA Dairy Herd Improvement Association, a life member and Golden Eagle of the NRA, a member of the West Branch Crop Management Association, the Farmers Allied for Responsive More Effective Representation “FARMER”, the Muncy Historical Society, the Susquehanna Health Foundation Cornerstone Society, the West Branch Ducks Unlimited and the American Red Cross Blood Donor Six Gallon Club.
An avid outdoorsman, Harold enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing and held lifetime licenses for each. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler on the farm, watching western and action movies, attending auctions, collecting milk bottles and eating homemade goodies. Harold loved supporting his grandchildren by attending their school events. He will be remembered as a friendly, kind and helpful neighbor in the farming community in Pennsdale.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Elaine and John Clark Lamoreaux, of Pennsdale; two grandchildren, Nathaniel John Drick Lamoreaux and Natalie Elaine Irene Lamoreaux; one niece, Roberta Cook Olmstead and her husband, Glenn Robert, of Oxford, FL; two great nephews, David Mark Eshelman, of Muncy and Martin Russell Eshelman and his wife, Bonnie Elizabeth, of Tampa, FL; one great niece, Victoria Joi Hartsock, of Austin, TX; two great-great nephews, Matthew Russell Eshelman and his wife, Dawn Marie and Trevor Jacob Eshelman, all of Muncy; one great-great niece, Alexis Victoria Eshelman, of Tampa, FL; and one great-great-great niece, Layney Jude Eshelman, of Muncy.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one brother, Eugene Wilson Drick in May 1944 and one sister, Helen Elizabeth Cook in May 1988.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 30 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with his minister, Pastor Kevin St. Martin, officiating.
Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Muncy Township Volunteer Fire Company, (designated for the Fire Fighters Memorial), 261 Village Rd., Pennsdale, PA 17756 or to Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church, (designated for the Youth Building), 658 Village Rd., Pennsdale, PA 17756.
