Harry E. Kemberling, 88, of Selinsgrove, died Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at his home with family by his side.
He was born June 14, 1932 in Kratzerville, a son of the late Albert W. Sr. and Edna (Swope) Kemberling. On March 28, 2009 he married the former Bertha M. “Sis” (Nace) Brouse, who survives. Together they celebrated 11 years of marriage.
Harry was a 1951 graduate of Selinsgrove High School. He served honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War. Harry worked for 13 years at Kratzer Oil Company, Sunbury and for 22 years in the warehouse at Temple Products, Selinsgrove.
He was a member of Zion Church of Kratzerville. Harry was a life member of the Kratzerville Fire Company; the Americus Hose Company, Sunbury; Hummels Wharf Fire Company; and the Selinsgrove VFW Post 6631, Selinsgrove. He was also a member of the American Legion Victory Post 25, Selinsgrove and the Lafayette Lodge #194, Selinsgrove.
An avid train enthusiast, Harry collected American Flier and HO trains. He enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to country music and watching the Lawrence Welk Country Band. Harry was also fond of fishing and gardening. Most of all he loved spending time with his great-grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four great-grandchildren, Peyton and Chase Bilger and Cedar and Peri Shaw; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Mary A. Kemberling; one brother, Albert W. Kemberling, Jr.; and one sister Roseva Stover.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, at Zion Church of Kratzerville 4106 Rt. 204, Kratzerville, where the funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev. Dan Conklin, officiating. For everyone’s safety we ask that all attendees adhere to the social distancing guidelines and wear a mask.
Burial will be held privately in the former Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Winfield.
The family suggests contributions in Harry’s memory be made to Zion Church of Kratzerville 4106 Rt. 204, Kratzerville, PA 17870.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
