Henry G. McCulloch, 84, formerly of Pearl River, NY died Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Inova Loudon Hospital, Leesburg, Virginia.

Born February 11, 1930 in New York City, NY, he was a son of the late John and Lillian (Herman) McCulloch. On October 1, 1955 he married the former Joan C. Murphy, who survives. Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Henry served honorably with the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a New York City Fireman for 27 years, retiring in 1982. For most of his career Henry was stationed in Brooklyn, NY, though towards the end of his career he was an instructor at the NYC Fire Department Academy. After retirement, Henry worked at the Otis Elevator Company, Montvale, NJ for 10 years.

He was a dedicated former member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Pearl River, NY and a current member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Potomac Falls, VA.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three daughters and one son-in-law, Christine McCulloch, of Potomac Falls, VA, Karen Snyder, of Downingtown, PA and Ellen and Kurt Olsen, of Hughesville; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Pat McCulloch, of Inkerman, PA; a sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Peter Barrios, of Fruita, CO; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where a prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, with the Rev. Glenn McCreary, officiating.

Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either the New York Firefighters Burn Center, online at www.nyffburncenter.com or to the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences, at GW SMHS Development and Alumni Relations, 2030 M Street, NW, Fourth Floor, Washington DC 20036 or online at www.smhs.gwu.edu.
