Hilda S. Brubaker, 95, formerly of 1577 Johnson Mill Road, Lewisburg passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015, at RiverWoods.
She was born October 25, 1920, in Millersville, a daughter of the late Benjamin N. and Laura H. (Haverstick) Shertzer. Following her marriage to Noah M. Brubaker on June 20, 1942, she began an egg route selling the eggs from the chickens they raised on their farm. In 1971 they moved to Union County to continue farming.
Hilda attended the Millersville Normal School.
She was a member of East District Mennonite Church, Watsontown, and a former member of the Rohrerstown Mennonite Church.
A people person, Hilda was very giving and enjoyed socializing and meeting new people. She loved gardening, singing, playing games and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Hilda and Noah also enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Sarasota, Florida.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, James C. and Naomi Brubaker, of Lewisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Miriam L. and Lamar Hackman, of Lewisburg; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sons, one who died in infancy and David Brubaker who died in 1986; three sisters, Naomi, Alta and Susan Shertzer; and two brothers, Benjamin H. and Raymond H. Shertzer.
Friends will be received from 3:30 to 6:45 p.m. Monday at the East District Mennonite Church, 71 East District Road, Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 7 p.m.
Burial will be held at noon, Tuesday in the Old Rohrerstown Mennonite Church Cemetery, 601 Rohrerstown Rd., Lancaster.
