Hilda V. Phillips Appleman

Hilda V. Phillips Appleman, 80, a resident of Warrior Run Manor, Watsontown, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at home.

Born Nov. 24, 1934 in Turbotville, she was a daughter of the late Brady and Julia (Ball) Reese.  Her husband of 35 years, Franklin J. Phillips, Sr., predeceased her on Nov. 13, 1989.

Hilda worked for the former J. C. Decker in Montgomery and retired from ShopVac, Williamsport.

She was a member of Rock Run Church, Muncy Valley.  Hilda enjoyed music and was talented at playing the piano, accordion and organ.

Surviving are five children, Frank Phillips, Jr. and companion Maria Butchko of Muncy, Gene Phillips and wife Ann of Hughesville, Paul Phillips and wife Jill of Muncy, Dawn Phillips of Williamsport and David Phillips and wife Janet of Shamokin; one brother, Bob Reese and wife Esther of Muncy; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by 2 grandchildren, Curtis and Amanda Phillips; 1 great-granddaughter, Layney Ann Hakes; and a daughter-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” Phillips.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, and again from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday at Radiant Light Assembly of God, 9565 State Route 442, Muncy, where the funeral will be held at noon. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. James Bechtel, and Pastor Adam Barnes of Radiant Light.

Burial will follow in Katy Vandine Cemetery, Madison Twp., Columbia County.

The family will provide the flowers and requests monetary contributions be made to the funeral home to help defray costs.
