Howard H. "Howdie" Ott

Howard H. “Howdie” Ott, 80, of 656 Muncy Exchange Road, Muncy, died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the Muncy Valley Hospital.
Born July 11, 1935 in Muncy Township, he was a son of the late Howard N. and Esther (Belles) Ott. He and his wife, the former Virginia L. Bartlow, were married June 11, 1955, and observed their 60th wedding anniversary this past year.
A 1953 graduate of Montoursville High School, Howdie was employed as an assembler at Sprout-Waldron in Muncy for over 30 years. He then worked with his brother, Ron, performing construction and siding jobs, as well as working in the maintenance department at Muncy Valley Hospital, until retiring from LDI in 1998.
Howdie was a 60-year member of First United Methodist Church in Muncy, where he actively participated in the Wesleyan Sunday School class, the United Methodist Men and the church softball team. He served as past President and Captain of the Keystone Hook & Ladder Fire Co., where he was a member for 20 years. A sports enthusiast, Howdie was a big fan of baseball and football. He was fond of the outdoors and hunted faithfully every year. Howdie also participated in the Montoursville Horseshoe League.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, David L. (Cynthia) Ott of South Williamsport, John S. (Barbara) Ott of Sunbury and Michael A. (Helen) Ott of Muncy; three brothers, Ronald (Mary Ann) Ott of Danville, Thomas (Sherry) Ott of Montoursville and Edward (Sue) Ott of Forest, Virginia; one sister, Peggy (Dennis) Mason of Yarmouth Port, Mass.; five grandchildren, Stacie (Michael) DiRocco, Christofer Ott, Travis Ott, Dane (Heather) Ott and Evan Ott.; and one great-granddaughter, Gianna DiRocco.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Jean L. Trexler.
Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. Arlene P. Beechert. Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, PA 17756.
