Howard J. “Rowdy” Propst, Jr., 62, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport.
Born December 17, 1960 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Howard J. Propst, Sr. and Norma Jean (Hill) Reich.
Howard was a graduate of Montgomery High School. He worked as a welder beginning his career at Northrop Grumman, Montgomery and retiring from Milton Steel.
He enjoyed socializing; was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #251, Montgomery and was a life member of the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W. Auxiliary, Muncy, and the Northumberland Fire Company #1. An avid outdoorsman, Howard was fond of hunting and fishing, especially for trout. He was also a member of the Circle J Hunting Club and the Lycoming County Beagle Club.
Surviving are four children, Cory Propst, of Montgomery, Keith Habel, of Pittsburgh, Vince Buck, of Muncy and Roxanne (Sandy) Aikey-Buck, of White Deer; three brothers, Donald (Debbie) Propst, of Muncy, Benjamin (Ashley) Probst, of Sunbury and John Propst, of Montgomery; six grandchildren, Josh Buck, Skylar Propst, Ashley Propst, Amber Buck, Chase Buck and Christopher Buck; one great-grandchild, Lilly Buck; his former wife, Ethna Propst; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Jennie Mae Propst; and a brother, Brian Propst.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Muffley-Huff Post #8206 V.F.W., 4835 Rt. 54, Turbotville.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
