Ida Louise Conrad

Ida Louise Conrad, 92, a long time resident of Milton, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.

She was born May 25, 1924 in New Columbia, a daughter of the late Roy Emerson and Ellen Elizabeth (Fisher) Bickel. On October 3, 1969 she married William L. Conrad and together they celebrated 39 years of marriage before his death on December 28, 2008.

Ida was a 1942 graduate of Milton High School where she received numerous awards.

She worked early in life at the former Milton Manufacturing and later as a payroll clerk for the former Shippers Car Line, a division of ACF Industries, Milton.

Ida was a proud member for over 70 years at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, West Milton, where she was active as a deacon, elder and church secretary of the consistory.

Ida enjoyed spending time with family and friends at her cabin near Weikert, fondly named “Wipperwill”.  She also travelled the world quite extensively with her husband, visiting almost every continent.

Surviving are four nieces, Jean Pepperman, of Mechanicsburg, Donna Fisher and her husband, Charles, of Lewisburg, Sharon Merrill, of Loganton and Sandra Pick and her husband, Carl, of Watsontown; and one nephew, Guy Erdley and his wife, Carol, of Watsontown.

She was predeceased by a first husband, Donald L. Bergenstock; two sisters, Kathryn Erdly and Alverna Erdley; and one brother, Franklin Dershem.

Friends will be received from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, August 4 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 433 High St., West Milton where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Gary Nottis, officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.

The family will provide flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 433 High Street, West Milton, PA 17886.

The family also sends their sincere thanks to Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village for their compassion and care for Ida.
