Jacob Robert Shipman, 12, of Montoursville, was called home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, while surrounded by his loving family.
Born March 28, 2003 in Danville, he was the son of Mike and Sarah Shipman, of Montoursville.
Jacob was a 7th grade student at Meadowbrook Christian School, Milton. He was an athlete, playing soccer, football and basketball.
A true child of God, he was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Montoursville. Jacob was the first to offer prayer at gatherings.
He was a lover of the outdoors, harvesting an 8 point buck at age 9. Jacob and his father spent many memorable hours in tree stands and fishing boats. Jacob loved spending time camping with his family and friends. He attended Bible Camp at Susque and was looking forward to becoming a counselor there. One of Jacob’s favorite places was MiMi and Grandpa’s farm in the Muncy hills. He could spend hours riding the golf cart, snowmobiling, playing in the creek, swimming and hunting there.
Jacob was a well mannered and sincere child that made others feel true joy in his presence. He loved serving and helping others. He was a wonderful brother to his two sisters, who he loved dearly.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his twin sister, Laurel, and younger sister, Audrey, both of Montoursville; maternal grandparents, Robert and Debra Rabb, of Muncy; paternal grandparents, Doug and Denise Spotts, of Hughesville and Mike and Karla Shipman, of Muncy; maternal great-grandparents, Dr. Donald and Dottie Rabb, of Benton and William and Sara May, of Bloomsburg; paternal great-grandmother, Shirley Butler, of Montoursville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, at Christ Wesleyan Church, 363 Stamm Rd., Milton, where the funeral will be held at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Arlie Davis, pastor of Christ Wesleyan Church, officiating.
Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Muncy Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made in Jacob’s name to Bible Camp, 131 Cain Lane, Muncy, PA 17756 or to Lycoming County Camp Cadet, PO Box 234, Montoursville, PA 17754.
The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
