James F. Finkler

James F. Finkler, 52, of Hughesville, died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Gatehouse Hospice Center, Williamsport.

Born December 21, 1962 in Philadelphia, he was a son of Stewart S. and Marian (Neu) Finkler, of St. Joseph, Michigan. On May 25, 1985 he married the former Noreen McCoy, who survives. Together they celebrated 30 years of marriage.

James was a 1980 graduate of Muncy High School and a 1984 graduate of Lycoming College, where he received his bachelor’s degree and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. James began working at WILQ as Assistant News Director. He went to work at Penn College, Williamsport in the administrative offices, first in admissions and then in fundraising, until 2012. Following Penn College, his love of music prevailed and James returned to radio by joining the Backyard Broadcast team.

He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy.

James was on the County Commission for the Boy Scouts. He loved being M. C. of the Smoke Country Jam Blue Grass Festival held in Cross Fork every year. In his spare time he also enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Surviving in addition to his parents and wife are a son, Will Finkler, of Hughesville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Dantra Finkler, of Noblesville, IN and Edward and Nicole Finkler, of W. Lafayette, IN; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Daniel Hanasaki, of San Jose, CA, Christina and Joseph Conroy, of Stratford, NJ, Carolyn Finkler, of Austin, TX, Margaret and David Dikel, of Rockville, MD and Alexa Finkler, of Mantua, NJ; and ten nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Brian J. Finkler in November 2013.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, with his pastor, the Rev. Glenn McCreary, officiating.

Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.

The family will provide the flowers, and suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Boy Scouts of America, 815 Northway Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701 or to the Gatehouse, make check payable to Susquehanna Health Foundation and mail to 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
