James L. "Jim" Harmon

James L. “Jim” Harmon, 91, formerly of the Heritage House, Lewisburg, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at Riverwoods, Lewisburg.

He was born February 28, 1926 in Williamsport, a son of the late Earl and Sarah (Fenstermacher) Harmon.  Jim married the former Nina Hess on May 27, 1946 and together they celebrated 59 years of marriage before her death on May 13, 2006.

Jim was a graduate of Williamsport High School. He served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II.

Earlier in life he owned and operated Harmon’s Meats, Williamsport and also worked for Bob Hess Meats.  Jim retired from Union County Weights and Measures.

Jim was a life member of the Kratzer-Dull American Legion Post #182, Lewisburg and a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Winfield.

Having a love for fishing and hunting, he was a life member of the Buffalo Rod and Gun Club, Mifflinburg.

Jim played as a catcher on the original Winfield hardball team and later played fast pitch softball.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Kathy Harmon, of Lewisburg and Robert and Kim Harmon, of Sunbury; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Donna Hendricks; and one sister, Betty.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Winfield Cemetery.
