James "Dez" Reed

James “Dez” Reed, 65, of Muncy, died Friday, March 31, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born July 21, 1951, in Muncy, he was the son of the late H. Bryson and Madeline (Smith) Reed. On July 15, 1978, he married the former Colleen Schultz, who survives. Together they celebrated 38 years of marriage.

Jim was a 1969 graduate of Muncy High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Brandywine College in Delaware and York College of Pennsylvania. Jim worked for Lycoming County for 29 years as a Juvenile Probation Officer.

He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Muncy. Jim was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #866 Muncy Valley, a member of the former Hughesville Jaycees and a member of the T.E.T.S., Watkins Glen.

An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was an enthusiast of auto racing. Most of all, Jim loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law, Sean and Andrea Reed, of Muncy and Scott and Pamela Waltman, of Reno, NV; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Aaron Williams, of Muncy; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Madeline Early, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Nancy and Larry Pauling, of Hughesville, Cynthia Ferris, of Reno, NV, and Mary and Terry Slaten, of Sparks, NV; and five grandchildren, Mia, Landon, Cullen, Evan and Madelyn.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Deborah Reed, a nephew, Liam Ferris and a brother-in-law, Harold Early.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. James Episcopal Church, 215 S. Main St., Muncy, with the Rev. David Culbertson, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to St. James Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 95, Muncy, PA 17756.
