James M. “Jim” Shaffer Sr., 91, of Montgomery, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at UPMC, Williamsport.
He was born on November 8, 1933 in Muncy a son of the late Clarence Sr. and Maude (Klingerman) Shaffer. On June 18, 1966 he married the former Mary L. Woodling, who survives.
Jim was a 1952 graduate of Montgomery Clinton High School and served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He later worked as an inspector for J.A. Habig Veneer, before retiring in 1994.
Jim was a member of St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church. He was also a member of the Loyal order of Moose, Milton Lodge 171 for over 50 years, and a Montgomery Area senior citizen.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and archery.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, James Jr. (Edwina) Shaffer, of Watsontown, and Eric (Linda) Shaffer, of Sharon Hill; and one brother, Clarence Jr. (Suzie) Shaffer, of Kingsport, TN.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
