Jan Udell Jansen

July 19, 1945 — December 13, 2014

Jan Udell Jansen, 69, of Watsontown, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at his home.

He was born July 19, 1945 in Port Chester, NY, the son of the late Johan Joos and Marie Luen (Young) Jansen. On August 1, 2008 he married Elaine M. DiMicco, who survives. Together they celebrated six years of marriage before his death.

Jan was a 1963 graduate of Webb School of California, a 1974 graduate of Columbia University School of Engineering and a 2008 graduate of the Physician Assistant program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, now Rutgers University. He worked as a mechanical engineer at coal and nuclear power plants and was a river guide in Alaska and Yukon, where he enjoyed white water rafting and canoeing. Most recently Jan practiced medicine in a charity clinic in New Brunswick, New Jersey until retiring.

Jan served honorably with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

During retirement he enjoyed cooking and experimenting with new recipes and was also fond of spending time with his two cats.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two stepchildren, Beth Townsend, her companion, Igor Pachomow and their son, Rustov, of Flemington, NJ and Daniel DiMicco, his wife, Laura and their sons, Michael and Benjamin, of St. Augustine, FL.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
