Janet Miriam (Albertson) Albright

Janet Miriam (Albertson) Albright, 89, of Lewisburg, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Riverwoods, Lewisburg.

She was born May 11, 1929 in Millville, the daughter of the late Willard Leo and Lillian Mae (Smith) Albertson.  On December 7, 1951, she married Dean E. Albright, who survives. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Janet was a 1947 graduate of Millville High School. She went on to graduate from Empire Beauty School, Wilkes Barre.

She owned and operated her own beauty parlor in Millville and worked in several other locations as Dean worked at training sites with the General Electric Co. Janet had a very rewarding eight year period of service working as a teaching assistant with hearing impaired students in Lake Charles, LA.

In retirement, Janet and Dean enjoyed many years traveling and grandparenting from their home on the shores of Toledo Bend Reservoir, LA. They also loved volunteering having traveled to 23 Elderhostel programs, teaching stained glass at Fort Polk Army Base, LA, general services at Hodges Horticultural Gardens, Many, LA and teaching and managing stained glass at the American Baptist Greenlake Conference Center, Greenlake, WI.

Through the leadership of the Holy Spirit, Janet is a “Born Again Christian.”

In her later years, Janet enjoyed the pleasures of life at the Continuing Care Retirement Community at Riverwoods, Lewisburg. She was active in the craft program, teaching and making items for sale for the benefit of the benevolent care program.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two children, Beth (Albright) Sloane, of Mechanicsville, VA and Jeffrey W. Albright, of Baton Rouge, LA; one brother, Arthur Albertson, of Millville; five grandchildren, Matthew and Benjamen Albright, Jennifer Carter, Rebecca Campbell and Emily Jarrell; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Glen, William and Robert Albertson.

A memorial service is being planned and will be held at a later date.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
