Janice M. Rhoads, 85, formerly of Bastian Rd., Muncy, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Williamsport Home.
Born October 26, 1932 in Jackson Township, Columbia County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Ethel Alice (Miller) Swank. On April 2, 1961 she married Donald R. “Dusty” Rhoads, who preceded her in death Sep. 25, 2014. Together they celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Janice was a 1950 graduate of Benton High School and later attended the former Miss Susie L. Wheaton School of business, Williamsport.
She retired after 32 years from Corning Glass Works, Corning, New York.
Janice was an active Civil War re-enactor with her husband, Donald and enjoyed spending time at Gettysburg especially during the Fourth of July festivities. She also loved camping and square dancing.
Surviving are one brother, Martin Swank, of Berwick; two sisters, Norma Hunter, of Williamsport and Dorothy Swank, of Montoursville; five nephews; numerous great nieces and great nephews; and two great-great nieces and one great-great nephew.
In addition to her parents and husband, Janice was predeceased by two brothers and a sister-in-law, James Swank and Robert and Norma Swank; sister-in-law, Nancy Swank; a brother-in-law, Richard Hunter and a nephew, Rick Hunter.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John E. Lee, retired United Methodist pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Johns Lutheran “Brick” Church Cemetery, Montgomery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Janice’s name be made to UPMC Susquehanna Health Foundation, c/o the Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
