J. E. “Jay” Moore, 91, of Muncy, PA, died Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at his home.

Born August 3, 1923 in Mooresville, he was a son of the late John Espy and Mae Lou (Edmiston) Moore.  On September 29, 1946 he married the former Edith Noreen Steele. Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage before her death on March 9, 2012.

J.E. served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.  He later retired from the former Avco-Lycoming, now Textron, Williamsport, PA.

He loved to maintain his home and enjoyed the wildlife and nature surrounding him.  J.E. cherished spending time with his family.  He was family-oriented and loved children.

Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Pat Moore of Harrisburg, PA and Sandy Moore and Brad Christ of Hershey, PA; one son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Vikki Moore of Harrisburg, PA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anita and Wyatt Fesperman, of Mooresville and Rebecca and Allen Booe, of Greensboro; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.J.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, John, who died in 1997; two brothers, Frank and Fred Moore; and five sisters, Elizabeth Alexander, Johnsie Oliphant, Ruth Patterson, Edna Turner and Dorothy Compton.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, at First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, PA where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with his pastor, Rev. Arlene Beechert, officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, PA.

The family suggests memorial contributions in J.E.’s name be made to either the First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, PA 17756, or Susquehanna Health Foundation, c/o Hospice, 1001 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701.
