Jean E. “Cookie” Boatman, 83, of 70 Mohawk Dr., Hughesville, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Susquehanna Health Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center, Muncy.
Born January 16, 1931 in Nordmont, she was a daughter of the late Harvey A. and Gertrude L. (Boatman) Allen. On April 12, 1952 she married Irvin Boatman who preceded her in death November 6, 1990. Together they celebrated 38 years of marriage.
Cookie was a graduate of Muncy High School. She worked at Sylvania GTE for 39 years, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of Muncy Baptist Church.
Cookie enjoyed reading, playing cards, listening to country music and had a passion for sports, especially college basketball. She loved and treated all of her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as her own children.
Surviving are a brother, Gary Allen, of Muncy; a sister, Doris Allen, of Muncy; 21 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by five brothers, Art, William, Ray, Warren and Lynwood Allen and three sisters, Edith Hess, Marion Lee and Shirley Nuss.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11, with her pastor, Rev. Robert W. Rice, officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest contributions be made to either the Muncy Baptist Church, 11 W. Penn St., Muncy, PA 17756 or the Susquehanna Health Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Muncy and mail to 1001 Grampian Blvd,. Williamsport, PA 17701 (make check payable to Susquehanna Health Foundation and indicate Skilled Nursing).
