Jessie M. Rovenolt, 92, of Milton, died on Monday, January13, 2025 at Watsontown Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born October 18, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Clark and Madeline (Johnson) Moore. On January 29, 1960 she married Carl S. Rovenolt, who predeceased her on December 15, 2018. Together they celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Jessie graduated from Watsontown High School. She worked as a waitress at local restaurants in the area and was a homemaker, taking care of and raising her family.
In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and sewing. Jessie was an excellent cook and baker. Her home and fridge were always open to friends, family, and anyone who stopped in to visit. A farm wife, Jessie was known for her roast beef dinners, desserts and omelets.
She loved roller skating, drinking coffee and playing cards, especially with her brothers. Jessie’s kitchen table was the center of her home and was always filled with laughter and good times. Her grandchildren loved summers on the farm with Granny and Pappy.
The farm was a wonderful place to be raised and to gather for small game hunting, sled riding, and ice skating. A tradition was gathering for haircuts, food, and conversation; held monthly at the farm, and rotating through her brother’s homes.
Jessie’s passing marks the end of the greatest generation in her family. She and her brother Ivan were home supporting the troops and Nation while her brothers Claude, Bob, Doyle, and Donald all served overseas, eventually returning home safely.
Surviving are her children, JoLana Krawitz, of North Carolina, Denny (and BJ) Rovenolt, of Milton, Tom (and Karen) Lyons, of Williamsport, Dale (and Nancy) Rovenolt, of Milton and Carlene (and Mike) Weaver, of Allenwood; fourteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Carl “Sam” Rovenolt, Jr. and Scott Lyons; uncle, “Mac”; and five brothers, Claude, Bob, Don, Ivan and Doyle Moore.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 4th at Paradise Church Cemetery, rural Milton. Pastor Doug Schrader will officiate.
