Joan L. Kantrowitz, 83, formerly of Lewisburg and most recently of Royse City, Texas, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, in Texas.
She was born March 3, 1931, in Mount Carmel, a daughter of the late Elias George and Genevieve Elizabeth (Bennsinger) Cohoon. On Sept. 15, 1984, she married Seymour Nathaniel Kantrowitz. Together they celebrated 15 years of marriage until his death May 19, 2000.
Joan was a graduate of Lewisburg High School.
She worked as an office manager at the former Buffalo Valley Telephone Company.
Joan was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, where she served actively as a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. She also served as a financial secretary and on other committees in the church.
She enjoyed counted cross stitch and earlier in life was in a bowling league.
Surviving are one daughter, Debra Jacques and husband Rick, of Royse City; two stepdaughters, Karen Sadowski and husband, Joe, of Clark Summit and Carol Hulse and husband, David, of Lexington, Ky.; two grandsons, Sean Jacques and wife, Ashley, and Ryan Jacques and wife, Jenna; three stepgrandchildren, Scott Sadowski and Elaine and Thomas Hulse; and one great-granddaughter, Maya Evelyn Jacques.
Burial was held privately at the convenience of the family in Lewisburg Cemetery.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St. Lewisburg.
