John Jenkin

John Jenkin, 81, of Lewisburg, died at Nottingham Village on November 2, 2014.
He was born November 15, 1932 in East Orange, New Jersey, son of the late John Searle Jenkin and Carolyn George Jenkin. He grew up in Verona, New Jersey.
He and his wife, Patricia, were married 54 years and lived in Basking Ridge, New Jersey until moving with their son, John S. (J.J.), to Lewisburg in 1999 to be near their daughter Pamela, son-in law Douglas, and granddaughters Rachel and Olivia Contri.
He was a graduate of Princeton University and Rutgers Graduate School of Education. Following Army service in Germany he married Patricia Monks of Madison, New Jersey and joined her teaching in Chatham, New Jersey. After teaching English at Chatham High School for five years, Mr. Jenkin began a career in educational publishing with Silver Burdett Company, beginning in sales and marketing and retiring as a senior editor.
He enjoyed competitive sports in school and participated in outdoor sports, gardening, camping, and photography throughout his life. He sang in the Oratorio Choir at the Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church and served on the Bernards Township Board of Education form 1972 to 1977.
He leaves his wife, daughter, son, son-in-law, two granddaughters, and sister, Carol Schroeder of Burlington, New Jersey.
A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
