John Stanley Lucas, Jr., 85, of Muncy, died Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Williamsport Home.

Born March 2, 1931 in Muncy, he was a son of the late John Stanley, Sr. and Mary (Grange) Lucas. He and his wife, the former Janet Anderson, celebrated 65 years of marriage before her death June 18, 2016.

He was a 1949 graduate of Muncy High School. John retired from the former Sprout-Waldron in 1989, where he worked as a foreman in the pattern shop for 40 years, and was a member of Sprout’s Quarter Century Club.

John was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Muncy.

John was active for 25 years with the Muncy Little League, where he coached, umpired and served on the board. In 1994, John was inducted into the Muncy High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Jane Lucas, of Muncy; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Louis Adams, of Allentown; three grandchildren, Andrew Lucas and his wife, Kristen, of Carlisle, Matthew Lucas and his wife, Allie, of Beaufort, SC and Duane Adams of  Williamsport; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Ernst, of Fredericksburg, VA and Barbara and Bob Banzhaf, of Muncy and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Max and Carl Lucas.

The family is planning a memorial service for John and Janet to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 15, at the First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, with the Rev. Arlene Beechert, officiating.

Interment in the First United Methodist Church columbarium will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests memorial contributions in John’s name be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
