Joseph E. "Joe" Cawley

Joseph E. “Joe” Cawley, 65, of 165 Second St., New Columbia, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at his home.

He was born May 20, 1949 in Lewisburg, a son of the late George and Mildred (Ranck) Cawley. He married the former Sharon M. Bausinger, who survives.

Joe was a 1967 graduate of Milton High School. He worked as a mechanic at Furman Foods, Northumberland for 45 years.

Joe was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, New Columbia. He was also a member of the Mopar Guys, the Northeast Hemi Owners and the New Columbia Area Civic Association. Joe was a past member of the Pride and Joy Car Club and of the White Deer Township Lions, where he was a member for 25 years.

His favorite pastimes include watching the Three Stooges, working on classic cars and spending time with his grandson. Joe was an avid fan of Penn State and Steelers football, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Surviving in addition to his wife, of Milton are a son, Erik Cawley, of Watsontown; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Will Campbell, of White Deer; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Robert and Betty Cawley, of Montgomery, Phillip and Rachel Cawley, of New Columbia, Andrew and Kathy Cawley, of Turbotville, Donald Cawley, of White Deer and William and Grace Cawley, of New Columbia; a sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and David Rheppard, of Milton; one grandson, Owen Cawley, of Watsontown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Terry Cawley, one niece and one great-niece.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Highland Cemetery, New Columbia, with his pastor, the Rev. Robert O. Rice, Jr., officiating, assisted by the Rev. Paul Kauffman, retired Methodist pastor. A continued celebration will be held following the service in the Civic Building, New Columbia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Victory, P. O. Box 810, Millville, PA 17846.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.
