Judith Asbury Cole Costello, 86, of Hughesville, died Friday, October 20, 2023 at UPMC Williamsport.

Born December 21, 1936 in Boston, MA, she was a daughter of the late Edwin Asbury Cole Jr., and Malva Josephine (Roberts) Cole.

Judith was a 1958 graduate of Pembroke College (Brown University) where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art degree.

Quilting was Judith’s passion and life’s work. She was a member of numerous quilting guilds including Vintage Gatherers, Dear Janes and Tiadaghton Guild. Judith was the author of two published quilting books and a designer of four copyrighted quilting patterns. She taught numerous quilting workshops and was a frequent guest lecturer throughout the country.

She volunteered for the Lycoming County and Muncy Historical Societies.  Judith was also President of the Junior League of Williamsport and President of the Williamsport Law Wives Association.

Judith was married to the late John Crawford Youngman, Jr. of Williamsport for 55 years from 1958 until his death in 2013.   She later married Edward J. Costello in 2018, with whom she lived her remaining years in a happy home on Sherman St in Muncy.

Surviving are her husband, Edward J. Costello; her four children John Crawford Youngman III, Ashley Grace Youngman, Adam Cole Youngman, and Benjamin Antes Youngman; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband John Crawford Youngman, Jr.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
