June C. Engle

June C. Engle, 92, of Allenwood, died on Monday, January 6, 2025 at her daughter’s home.

Born November 6, 1932 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Louis Sr. and Maude (Bower) Dantonio. On July 9, 1955 she married George C. Engle, who predeceased her on November 21, 2014. Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage.

June graduated from Montgomery Clinton High School. She later retired from the former GTE Sylvania, Muncy, where she worked in quality control and as screen machine operator.

June was a longtime member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Elimsport, where she was part of the Lady’s aide and enjoyed helping others.

She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star in her earlier years. June enjoyed fishing, gardening, painting and crafting. Most importantly, she loved her family and spending time on the farm.

Surviving is one daughter, Sonia Murphy, of Allenwood; one sister, Gloria Burrows, of Allenwood; one sister-in-law, Roseanna Dantonio, of Allenwood; two grandchildren, Corey (Michelle) Murphy and Kelsey (Steve) Hodson; six great-grandchildren, Lucy June, Graham and Ellis Hodson, Alexandra (Trey) Green, Alaina (Gabe) Smith and Jonah Murphy; and three great-great-grandchildren, Arlin, Annabeth and Terry Green.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, James Murphy; three brothers, William, Earl and Louis Jr. Dantonio; a brother-in-law, Harry Burrows; and a sister-in-law, Betty Dantonio

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14 at Grenoble Funeral Home & Crematory, 308 Main St. Watsontown where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Shultz, officiating.

Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
