Karen Erdley, 80, of Lewisburg, PA passed away on November 19, 2022 after valiantly fighting breast cancer for more than 40 years. Born on August 9, 1942 in Fort Sill, OK, she was the daughter of the late W. Arthur and Mary (Pope) McMorris. Karen spent her childhood years in Pittsfield, MA. She attended Bucknell University, where she met her husband, Larry Erdley. They married on October 27, 1962 and shared over 52 years of marriage, until Larry’s death in 2015.
Karen was a devoted mother and homemaker. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Cynthia and Edward Gardella of Hampden, ME and Lisa Erdley of Lewisburg; and one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Lisa (Kent) Erdley of Mount Juliet, TN. She has one sister, Barbara Armstrong (Stan) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and two brothers, F. Arthur McMorris (Joanna Balcarek) of Bala Cynwyd, PA and Daniel McMorris (Diane Charbonneau) of Pittsfield, MA. She is also survived by five granddaughters, Kathryn, Rachel, and Sarah Gardella and Emily Erdley and Abbie Erdley Greenwood.
Karen enjoyed reading, gardening, researching family genealogy, and watching baseball. She was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox. She was also a long-time member of Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28th at Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. 3rd St., Lewisburg.
Inurnment will be held privately in the Lewisburg Cemetery Columbarium.
The family suggests that contributions in Karen’s name be made to either Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. 3rd St., Lewisburg, PA 17837 or the Public Library for Union County, 255 Reitz Blvd., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St., Lewisburg.
