Karen M. Morgan

June 17, 1942 — December 18, 2020

Karen M. Morgan, 78, of Lewisburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Riverwoods, Lewisburg. She was stricken with Parkinson’s in early 2019 and subsequently diagnosed with MSA shortly thereafter. She never gave up, fighting the disease each and every day until her very last breath.

She was born June 17, 1942 in Lewisburg, the youngest daughter of the late Fred and Cornelia (Haas) Rohland.  April 6, 1984 she married Philip “Phil” Morgan, who survives. Together they celebrated 36 years of marriage.

Karen was a 1960 graduate of Lewisburg High School. She held many jobs, from restaurant owner to bookkeeper, to her most recent job as a receptionist at Riverwoods. Karen’s favorite employment was at Riverwoods, where she was a blessing to the many residents.

She loved her home and, in her heart, she was a professional decorator. Karen truly enjoyed gardening and caring for her cats throughout the years. She had a deep affection for all animals.

After relocation to Lewisburg in 2001, she attended the monthly dinners and luncheons with her 1960 classmates for many years. Karen also enjoyed her monthly card club and monthly dominoes events.

Karen loved to travel, having been fortunate to visit London, Italy, Bermuda, Mexico, Hawaii, Bahamas and Grand Cayman. Her favorite trips were her annual spring trips to Hilton Head Island.

She was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Buffalo Valley/Lewisburg.

Most importantly, Karen’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She truly loved her husband, children, stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchild and was happiest when spending time with them.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her two sons, Michael Gordon and his wife, Melanie and Andrew Gordon and his wife, Leann; two step sons, Michael Morgan and his wife, Keleigh and Richard Morgan and his wife, Kimber; 10 grandchildren, Michael Gordon, Nicole Gordon, Austin Gordon, Cole Morgan, Clay Morgan, Paige Morgan, Brooke Morgan, Brian Stackhouse, Ashley Dziuba and Taylor Iddings and one great-grandchild, Amelia Gordon.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her only sister, Delores “Dolly” in November of 2020 and a granddaughter, Olivia Gordon, who Karen babysat weekly for four years.

Services will be announced at a later date.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Riverwoods who took special and compassionate care for many months.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
