Karen E. Myers

Karen E. Myers, 93, of Muncy, died Saturday, March 29, 2025 while surrounded by her loving family at Wolf Run Village, Hughesville.

Born September 8, 1931 in Jersey Shore, she was a daughter of the late Arnold Crist Strailey and Kathryn E. (Schmall) Yoder. On November 1, 1952 she married Harvey E. Myers, who preceded her in death September 6, 1988. Together they celebrated 35 years of marriage.

Karen was a 1949 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and the Williamsport School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at the Muncy Valley Hospital on and off while raising her children. Karen also worked as a school nurse at the Muncy High School for 10 years.

She was a faithful member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Muncy, where she enjoyed attending Bible studies. She was also a member of the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Roland Ritter Post 268 American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as secretary. Karen loved being social and was a member of the Muncy Women’s Club, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, several card clubs and POETS.

Staying active, Karen loved to dance and listen to music, she enjoyed attending local chorus and band concerts, playing BINGO at the VFW and was an avid bowler. With a love of baseball, she was involved with the Muncy Little league concessions and was a passionate supporter of the Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Karen was fond of traveling with her husband, taking trips to Canada, around the United States and abroad. She enjoyed baking and was well known for her banana bread, apple dumplings and variety of pies. Karen was a devoted fan and collector of the Wizard of Oz.

Surviving are four children and their spouses, Harvey “Crist” and Alicia Myers, of Muncy, Carol Myers Walker and Kim Walker, of Muncy, Cynthia Myers Alexander and Ron Alexander, of Muncy and Carl Andrew and Kristina Myers, of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren, Thomas and Nichole McClure, Scott Myers, Drew and Allyson Myers, Gregory Myers, Sarah Alexander and fiancé, LJ King and Kira Myers; and five great-grandchildren, Owen, Liam and Mia McClure and Malcolm and Calvin Myers.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn Ann Myers and a stepfather, David J. Yoder.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2025 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Ben Lander, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Muncy Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest contributions in Karen’s name be made to the church.
