Karen B. Sobol

November 17, 1957 — September 8, 2020

Karen B. Sobol, 62, of Lewisburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at the Gatehouse in Williamsport after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Karen was born November 17, 1957, in Sunbury, a daughter of Phyllis (Grove) Hettler, of Lewisburg, and the late William Rebuck.  She graduated from Shikellamy High School in 1975, and retired as an administrative assistant from Scullin Oil Company in Sunbury in 2015.

Karen attended Winfield Baptist Church and was a member of the Kratzer-Dull American Legion Post #182 Auxiliary.  Karen had a philanthropic nature and was always ready to do what she could for those in need.  She loved flamingos, doing crossword puzzles, cooking for her family and going to estate sales with her sister, Carla Brouse, of Lewisburg.  Karen also enjoyed wintering in Florida with her long-time companion, Bill.  Karen cherished the time she spent laughing and celebrating with family during frequent picnics, holiday gatherings, and vacations. Karen ran a tight ship when it came to these family events. If it wasn't for her recommendations, solicited or not, there is no telling if any family member would have ever made it on time, had enough side dishes, or gotten the drinks cold enough. The family now can only hope to live up to the high standards Karen set for family get-togethers.

Most importantly, Karen loved all of her grandchildren. They were her light, and she will always live in their hearts.

Surviving in addition to her mother and sister are her children, Angela Sobol Lowry (husband, Sean and daughter Norah) of Harrisburg; Joshua Sobol (wife, Amber and children, Blake and Wyatt) of Millmont; her companion, Bill Scullin, of Lewisburg and his children, Kellie Camire (husband, Jason and children, Elliot and William), of Gray, ME and Bridget Swineford (husband, Corey, and children, Brittany and Jake) of Shamokin Dam; niece, Heidi Suprenant (husband, Jim and children, Sophie and Perry), of Chicago, IL and nephew, Andrew Brouse of Staunton, VA.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests contributions in Karen’s memory be made to the Gatehouse Inpatient Hospice Unit. Please make checks payable to Susquehanna Health Foundation and mail to 1001 Grampian Blvd. Williamsport, PA 17701.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
