Karen Lynne Welteroth, 68, of Montgomery, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at home with her son and her pack of Irish Wolfhounds by her side.

Born July 10, 1955 in Watsontown at the family home, she was a daughter of the late Donald Pegg and Iris (Deitrick) Shoff. She was raised by her “Aunt Gram”, Dolores (Brennan) Deitrick and “Unc”, Allen Deitrick. She and her husband, Michael F. Welteroth celebrated 45 years of marriage before his death.

Karen was a 1973 graduate of Montgomery Area High School and a 1977 graduate with honors in nursing from the former Williamsport Area Community College, now Penn College. She was a lifetime care giver and a respected L.P.N. Karen worked at the Williamsport Home and was a dedicated caregiver to multiple members of her family including her husband, Michael F. Welteroth (Mar. 24, 1953 – Sep. 30, 2023) and daughter, Melissa Lorraine Welteroth (Jan. 12, 1984 – Dec. 10, 2012).

Karen enjoyed reading and sewing. Her final words were “I have earned my wings!” Karen was selfless and never lived for herself. She took care of others her entire life.

Surviving are a son, Michael A. Welteroth, of Montgomery; a daughter, Aprill Siegel and her husband, Steven, of Saylorsburg; grandson, Trent Ortiz and his wife, Julie, of New Jersey; three great-grandchildren; Ella, Gianna and Alden; brother, Preston Shoff, of York; sister, Lynne Shoff; Aunt Gram, Dolores Brennan, of Montgomery; her extended family, Susan and Joseph Welteroth, of Lewisburg and Greg and Laurie Welteroth, of Montoursville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, husband and daughter, she was predeceased by her ”Unc”, Allen Deitrick; brother, Scott Shoff; step father, Preston Shoff, Sr.: and in-laws, Joseph “Pop” and Letty Welteroth.

In lieu of flowers or donations the family requests that you spend time with those you love today.

A private service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
