Lea Nickles, 83, (also known as Pansy Lea Nickles) of 11 Westridge Lane,  Lewisburg, Pennsylvania passed away on August 1, 2015 at Nottingham Village in Northumberland, Pennsylvania.

She was born September 12, 1931, in Springdale, Arkansas, a daughter of the late Sam and Sarah Stamps.  On June 7, 1953, she married Lonnie J. Nickles, who passed away in 1982.

Lea graduated from Springdale High School in 1949.  She worked for many years in a variety of jobs, raising her family and supporting her husband in the achievement of his PhD in Economics.  Lea retired from her job as a library clerk at the Union County Public Library in Monroe, North Carolina.

She was a member of the Pilot Club of Monroe, North Carolina where she served as President for a period of time.  She was an avid reader and always supported her local library.  Lea was the proud mother of three sons and her love and devotion to family were perhaps some of her greatest attributes.  She is remembered by family and friends as a true “Southern Lady,” with a kind heart and gentle spirit.  Lea’s abiding love for family and trust in God sustained her throughout her life.

She is survived by Dr. Joel A. Nickles (Polly) of Richmond, Texas,  Robin P. Nickles, of Houston, Texas  and Dr. Thomas P. Nickles (Nancy) of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania,  seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held by the family at a future date.
