Leona J. (Hafer) Beck

Leona J. (Hafer) Beck, 83, of 200 Walnut St. Lewisburg, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
She was born September 19, 1932 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Arthur J. Sr. and Margaret T. (Hughes) Hafer. On January 11, 1964 she married Robert D. Beck and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death on September 15, 2014.
Leona was a 1951 graduate of Scotland School for Veteran’s Children, Scotland, PA.
Earlier in life she worked for Royal Imprints, Lewisburg, and later for American Home Foods (now Conagra), Milton. She also did babysitting in her home, which she enjoyed very much.
Leona was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lewisburg. She liked to crochet and do word searches, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Lindsay Beck, of Mifflinburg; one daughter and her companion, Melinda Beck and Jim Loreman, of Lewisburg; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Stella Hafer, of Danville and John and Marilyn Hafer, of New Berlin; a sister-in-law, Shirley Hafer of Lewisburg; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Lucy Beck, of Middleburg. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Megan, Jacqueline, Hayley, Nolan and Kellen Beck.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Frank Hafer, Arthur Hafer, Jr., and Donald Hafer Sr., and two sisters, Mary Rose Bailey and Margaret Leisenring.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St., Lewisburg, where a rosary will be held at 5:45 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, 41 S. Eighth St., Lewisburg, with her pastor, the Rev. Msgr. William Richardson, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
