Lester E. “Les” King, 89, of Montgomery, died Friday, April 5, 2024 at his daughter’s home in Jersey Shore.
Born December 24, 1934 in Allenwood, he was a son of the late Willis and Lena (Hopkins) King. On March 5, 1953 he married the former Audrey S. Welliver who preceded him in death July 27, 2019. Together they celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Lester served honorably in the United States Navy and later retired from the former Keeler/Dorr Oliver Boilers, Williamsport.
He grew up in the Methodist faith.
Lester was a member of the Bower Decker Post 251 American Legion, Montgomery.
He enjoyed gambling in casinos, going to the beach, and fishing trips on the Chesapeake Bay. Lester also loved working on his cars, and teaching his mechanical abilities to his children.
Surviving are four children, Deborah (Kim Nelson) Ewing, of Hughesville, Victoria King, of Jersey Shore, Michael (Andrea) King, of Frankford, DE, and Carol (Dave) Miller, of Montgomery; one brother, Willis “Bud” (Shirley) King, of Lewisburg; two sisters, Nancy Vermeulen, of Montgomery and Sherma Hill, of Hughesville; ten grandchildren, Dennis, Angela, Robert, Kasey, Jason, Chrissy, Garrett, Sarah, Aaron and Mike; and numerous great-grandchildren
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one daughter, Diane Bartlett; and two brothers, John and Wayne King.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday April 10 at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, with the Rev. James Pentz, officiating.
The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
