Lisa Jansen-King

October 28, 1963 — September 16, 2024

Lewisburg

Lisa Jansen-King, 60, of Lewisburg, passed peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She was enveloped by the love of her family and the sound of music—two of the things that brought her the most joy.

Born on October 28, 1963, Lisa was the beloved daughter of the late Werner and Charlotte (Tacheny) Jansen. Growing up on a farm outside Mankato, MN, alongside 12 siblings, she learned early on the value of family, hard work, and music. With her playful spirit and creative heart, Lisa often composed whimsical chore songs with titles like “I Don’t Like Pulling Weeds”, “I am Farmer a.k.a Mike Don’t Go So Slow”, and “All The Gold in Minnesota”. These songs, sung to this day in perfect harmony by her family, were just one of the many ways she brought laughter and love into their lives.

After high school and college, Lisa embarked on a worldwide adventure with Up With People, sharing her passion for music and community across the globe. From Australia to Europe to South America, she made a lasting impression everywhere she went, not only with her musical talent but also with her kind, giving heart. Eventually, Lisa made her home in Denver, CO, where she embraced motherhood with a heart full of love, creating countless cherished moments and memories that her children will hold dear for the rest of their lives.

In her final years, Lisa brought her boundless energy to Pennsylvania, where she became a cherished member of the Buffalo Valley Singers. Known for her generosity and desire to single-handly keep local shops in business, she delighted in sending lantern-themed and Lewisburg treasures to those she held dear. On June 24, 2023, in a moment that captured the essence of her beautiful spirit, she sang her way down the aisle on the arm of her son, marrying the love of her life, Robert C. Dewar, in a wedding that those present will never forget.

Lisa’s love continues to live on in the hearts of her husband, Robert; her seven children, Shaunté Thomas, Danielle (James) Flowers, Bryce King, Blayre King, Caroline (Alex Booth) Dewar, Rachel (Matt) Dewar-Parrett, and Will (Logan Vitale) Dewar; her 12 siblings; her seven grandchildren; her 35 nieces and nephews; and all those who were touched by her radiant light. Though her time with us was far too brief, we feel blessed and grateful to have known her. Lisa’s legacy of love, laughter, and music will forever remain with us.

A Celebration of Lisa’s life will be held on November 2 from 1-4pm at Iron Front in Lewisburg, PA.

Contributions in Lisa’s memory may be made to Buffalo Valley Singers (Please contact Andrea Tufo directly at 570-713-9298 to help coordinate this), The National Chamber Ensemble (Donate to The National Chamber Ensemble), or Geisinger Critical Care (Geisinger Ways to Give).
