Lloyd E. Rheam

November 26, 1933 — December 14, 2020

Lloyd E. Rheam, 87, of Sunbury, died Monday, December 14, 2020 at Embassy of Hearthside, State College.

He was born November 26, 1933 in Decatur Twp., Mifflin County, the son of Lloyd Sr. and Mabel (Clayton) Rheam. On June 15, 1954 he married the former Shirley Lepley, who survives. Together they celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Lloyd was a 1952 graduate of Lewistown Joint High School. He worked as a Formula  Administrator  at Firmenich for 29 years before his retirement in 1998.

He was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Sunbury.

Lloyd took part in an after school program with Big Bothers Big Sisters; where he was a Shikellamy school based mentoring assistant. In 2011 he won an award for volunteer of the year.

In his spare time, Lloyd enjoyed painting and earlier in life, played softball for the Walker Gordon softball team in New Jersey.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a sister, Betty Peck Erb, of Camp Hill; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Rheam, of Watsontown; two grandchildren, Michael Rheam and his wife, Christy, of Lafayette Hill, and Cathleen Murphy and her husband, Corey, of CA; five great-grandchildren, Ellie, Agatha and Harrison Rheam, and Annabelle and Finnegan Murphy and one nephew, Keith Erb, of Camp Hill.

In addition to his parents, Lloyd was predeceased by a son, Steven Rheam and a brother-in-law, the Rev. Paul Erb.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in United Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sunbury.

The family suggests contributions in Lloyd’s memory be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters, through www.myremembrance.com , which will provide the family with a personalized keepsake that lists every donor’s name who so graciously donated in his memory.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main Street, Watsontown.
