Lois Buck, 96, formerly of Montgomery, died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Watsontown Health and Rehab Center.

Born October 8, 1917 in Watsontown, she was a daughter of the late George S. and Anna M. (Oakes) Frederick.  On November 1, 1940 she married Elmer N. Buck, Sr., who preceded her in death January 16, 1989.  Together they celebrated 48 years of marriage.

Lois was a graduate of the former Watsontown High School. She attended the former Muncy Valley Hospital School of Nursing earning a degree as a LPN.  She continued to work at the hospital in Obstetrics where she delivered many babies before retiring.

She was a member of the former Christ Lutheran Church, Montgomery, where she served on the Altar Guild.

Earlier in life, Lois enjoyed volunteering at local Blood Drives as well as PTA and Band parent’s organizations.  She loved bowling, traveling and reading.  Lois was also well-known for her tatting skills.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, F. Charles and Sandy Buck, of Montoursville and Elmer Jr. and Cathy Buck, of Montgomery; one daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Steven Gruver, of Billings, MT; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sons, Donn and Gale Buck; two daughters, Judy Miller and Nancie Berryman; one grandson, John Anthony Buck; three brothers, James, Bruce and George Buck; and two sisters, Anna Middleton and Julia Frederick.

Friends will be received from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m., with her pastor, Rev. Viking Dietrich of St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, officiating.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery, Montgomery.
