Louise Garard Frontera, 87, formerly of Lewisburg, passed peacefully Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at National Church Residences at Mill Run in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born on March 15, 1927 in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania to the late Dr. Harold T. and Harriet (Fogg) Garard of Lewisburg.
She graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1945 and attended Bloomsburg State Teacher’s College, where she majored in education. She met her husband, Peter A. Frontera in Lewisburg while he was attending Bucknell University after WWII. They married in June 1951 and moved to Wilmington, Delaware where Louise taught elementary school for more than 20 years. She moved with her husband in 1978 to Sebastian, Florida where they operated the “Sandwich Shop” for 10 years. In 2011 they both relocated to Columbus, Ohio to be with family.
Louise was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sketching, reading and gardening. She had a keen interest in genealogy and history, and has been a member of the Huguenot Society.
She is survived by two daughters Lucy Frontera (Bill Rives) of Columbus, Ohio and Alice Frontera, of Traverse City, Michigan; one sister, Martha Yocum, of Uniontown; two granddaughters Sarah Rives (Jeff) Horn of Houston, Texas and Holly Rives (Nick) Hoffman of Columbus, Ohio; one great-grandson, Jeffrey Horn III, of Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Harriet G. Wagner.
A memorial service will be held at 5 pm Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral home, 106 S. Second Street, Lewisburg with Rev. Judi A. Herrold, officiating.
