Lucille O. Barchet, 93, of Lewisburg, went to be with the Lord October 24, 2014 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village.
Born February 14, 1921 in Elmira, NY, she was a daughter of the late George and Florence (Theetge) O’Hare. She and her husband, Walter G. Barchet, were married on November 20, 1942. Together they celebrated 67 years of marriage before his death August 12, 2010.
Lucille was a 1939 graduate of Elmira Free Academy. She worked in the office of Barker, Rose and Kimball, a wholesale hardware store in Elmira, NY until 1952. She and her family moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1956 and then to Lewisburg, PA in 1960.
She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Lewisburg.
Lucille was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved being a homemaker for most of her life.
She loved to read and cook and collected bells and Hummel figurines.
Lucille was proud of her Irish and German heritage.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Ellen Barchet, of Clifton, VA; a daughter, Susan Ruhl, of Montoursville; two grandsons, Captain Christopher John Barchet, of Savannah, GA and David Walter Barchet and his wife Amelia Rieth of Arlington, VA; two nieces, Kari Tate and her husband, Marty, of Mahaffey, PA and Becky Corcoran and her husband Bob, of Horseheads, NY.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter at birth; one brother, Richard O’Hare; one sister, Betty Bennett; and one son-in-law, Richard Ruhl.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday November 12, 2014 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY with her pastor, Rev. Paula Gustafson officiating. A luncheon will be held following the service.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Benevolence Fund, 189 East Tressler Blvd, Lewisburg, PA 17837 or St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
