Lucille (Rothermel) Aurand

November 12, 1916 — May 12, 2019

Lucille (Rothermel) Aurand, 102, of Lewisburg, walked from her home in which she has lived for 66 years into eternal peace and rest on Sunday, May 12th, Mothers Day.

Lucille was a daughter of the late Clarence and Mabel Rothermel, of Sunbury.  She was born and raised in Sunbury, until 1938, when she married the late James C. Aurand and moved to Lewisburg where she remained.

She worked for five years outside the home at Royal Imprints and Stein’s Flowers, both of Lewisburg.  Lucille preferred being a homemaker.

She was an active member of Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church the majority of her life and was its oldest member.

Lucille will be remembered most for her delicious banana nut bread.  Whenever you came to visit you always went home with a loaf.  She loved her beautiful, enormous rhododendron bush, and her lovely yard with wild flowers and plants.  Lucille loved sitting on her glider and watching the birds eating from the feeders next door.  She was active until the very end, and we thank the Lord for that.  She will be deeply missed by her daughter and grandson and all her many friends, but we know she is in a much better place.

Her living survivors are her daughter, Elizabeth Janet Wolf, and grandson, Nickolas Covino, both of Lewisburg.  She also had several surviving nieces and nephews, Craig and Sally Rothermel, Terry and Deb Rothermel, Pat and Claton Herb, Vicky and Andy Bickhart, David and Julie Benner, Lorie and Fred Adams, and Steve and Betsy Benner.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her very much beloved and cherished granddaughter, Tracy Ann (Wolf) Covino.  She had three siblings, all deceased, Alvin (Iova) Rothermel, Sarah (Charles) Benner and Ruth (Graydon) Christian.  Lastly, one deceased nephew, Timothy Benner.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16 at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St., Lewisburg, where the funeral will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. William S. Henderson, officiating.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest contribution’s in Lucille’s memory may be made to Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third Street, Lewisburg, PA 17837.

A very special thank you to her absolutely wonderful caregiver, Joyce, who has been with us for a year and a half, and also a thank you to Kathy and Barb.
