Margaret Elizabeth “Mickey” Boyer, 95, of Hughesville, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016.
Born December 28, 1920 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Robert Douglas and Margaret Elizabeth Reid. She and her husband, Charles William Boyer, were married 53 years before his death on July 21, 2002.
Margaret, along with her husband, owned and operated the former Boyer’s Restaurant in Hughesville. Along with running the restaurant, she spent much of her time raising and caring for her family.
She was a member for over 50 years at Bethany United Methodist Church, Hughesville.
Margaret was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Monsey Chapter 481. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and they were avid Penn State football fans, owning season tickets for 26 years. Margaret loved to play bingo and enjoyed her flowers and gardening. She also was very talented with arts and crafts, including ceramics.
Surviving are one son, Kim A. Boyer, of Hughesville; one daughter and son-in-law, Terri M. and John J. Peters, of Bethlehem; two grandchildren, Sarah Margaret Peters and Matthew Boyer; and two great-grandchildren, Audrey Rose Hess and Emily Grace Glica.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one daughter, Charlene Kay Boyer; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Irene Peters and Ashley Elizabeth Glica; one grandson, John J. Peters III; six brothers, Max, George, Kenneth and Robert Reid, and Charles and Jack Miller; and two sisters, Lillian Wolf and Mary Spring.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Arlene Beechert of First United Methodist Church, Muncy, officiating.
Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
