Margaret S. Jump, 94, of Lewisburg, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at Riverwoods.
She was born May 14, 1920 in Hegins, a daughter of the late William and Esther (Miles) Savidge. She married Chester Jackson Jump, Jr., who preceded her in death December 13, 2012. Together they celebrated 70 years of marriage.
A graduate of Hazelton High School, Margaret earned a BS from Albright College and a Master’s degree in psychology from West Chester University.
With her husband, Margaret served as an American Baptist Missionary in the Belgian Congo for seventeen years. Upon their return to the States, Margaret devoted many hours to serving the community as a volunteer. As a founder and staff psychologist at Project Together in Coatesville, she helped people suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.
Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lewisburg for the last twenty-five years, and was formerly a member of the First Baptist Church of Coatesville. She was a well-loved bible school teacher and prayer group leader at both churches, and served at one time as the president of the American Baptist Women.
She was a founder of the Church of the Exceptional in Coatesville, which served the mentally disabled population, and was inducted into the Coatesville Hall of Fame for the volunteer work she had done throughout her time in that city.
Surviving are her four children and spouses: Karen Henry and her husband Jesse, of Mt. Gretna, Richard Jump and his wife Sara, of Minnesota, Catherine Russell and her husband Gregory, of New York, and Robert Jump and his wife Victoria, of Colorado; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, John Savidge, of Lewisburg, Tom Savidge and his wife Jackie, of NC and Bill Savidge and his wife Oliva, of FL; one sister, Esther Bird, of GA; ten grandchildren, Rich Henry and his wife Lori, Rob Henry, Kim Weddle and her husband Jeff, Zach Jump and his wife Tomomi, Katy Smith and her husband Tommy, Maggie Jump, Emily Russell and her husband Dale Winter, Kirby Russell, Andy Jump and Rosie Jump; and eight great-grandchildren, Ethan Weddle, Jesse Henry, Emma Henry, Sarah Henry, Aiden Weddle, Jonny Henry, Liam Jump and Sadie Smith.
In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by one brother, David Savidge; two sisters, Helen Nielson and Gladys Snyder and one brother-in-law, Frank Bird.
A memorial service is being planned by the family and will be announced at a later date.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
