Margaret A. "Maggie" Young

March 26, 1939 — July 8, 2015

Margaret A. “Maggie” Young, 76, of Watsontown, and most recently of Nottingham Village, Northumberland, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015.

She was born March 26, 1939 in Lewisburg, the daughter of the late George William and Dorothy Rachel (Knouse) Oldt.  Her husband of 56 years, Max G. Young Jr., preceded her in death September 26, 2013

Maggie was a 1957 graduate of Watsontown High School.  She worked a short time at the former Montgomery Mills, Montgomery.  Maggie later retired as a housekeeper from the former United Methodist Nursing Home, now Riverwoods.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

Maggie’s greatest joy was being with her family, taking care of her husband and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was also fond of her dogs and cats.  Maggie had a passion for music and played the accordion, organ and piano.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Don and Diann Young, of Hughesville and Max Young, of Watsontown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Richard Boyer, of Selinsgrove and Dorothy and James Byerly, of Watsontown;  one brother and sister-in-law, John Francis and Janet Oldt, of Winfield; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one daughter-in-law, Mary Young.

Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m Friday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where a Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. with the Rev. John E. Lee, retired United Methodist Minister, officiating.

Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Watsontown Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Harrisburg Office, 2595 Interstate Dr, Ste 100 Harrisburg, PA 17110 or online at www.alz.org.
