Marjorie Anne "Marjie" (Savoye) Maxwell

March 31, 1937 — February 14, 2018

Marjorie Anne “Marjie” (Savoye) Maxwell, 80, of Lewisburg, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at her home from complications of a valiant battle with cancer.

Born on March 31, 1937 in Cranford, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Walter Tracy Sr. and Ida Mae (Waterman) Savoye. On June 15, 1957, she married Barry R. Maxwell and together they celebrated 58 years of marriage until his death on October 25, 2015.

Marge was a 1955 graduate of Westfield High School and received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Bucknell University in 1959.

She worked as a medical transcriptionist in Albuquerque, NM, a rural mail carrier in Lewisburg and boarded horses for many years.

Marjie loved experiencing new activities. She had her motorcycle and pilots license, tried bungee jumping and went skydiving with her children and grandchildren for her 80th birthday last year. Marjie enjoyed woodworking and stained glass.

She learned to play the bassoon in her 60’s and joined the New Horizons and Repasz bands in Williamsport.

Marjie was willing to attempt most of the upkeep of the family farm and other farming activities.

A couple of her mottos were, “If you can pay someone to do a project, you can do it yourself” and “If you don’t know how to do it, figure out a way. Problem solving is the most fun!”

Marjie’s family also had a motto, “If Marge can’t do it; it can’t be done.”

Surviving are three children, Kimberley Maxwell, of Lewisburg, Bradley Maxwell and his wife, Darla, of Goshen, OH and Ryan Maxwell and his wife, Lisa, of Lewisburg; one brother, Walter T. Savoye, Jr., of Towson, MD; and six grandchildren, Caleb, Seth, Janelle, Erin, Emily and Adam.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert W. Savoye.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests contributions in Marjie’s name be made to T & D’s Cats of the World, P.O. Box 186, 363 Mountain Rd.,  Penns Creek, PA 17862.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St. Lewisburg.
