Marshal M. Frye, 76, of Muncy, died Sunday, August 25, 2024 at his home.
Born February 22, 1948 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Max D. and Martha E. (Berriman) Frye. On November 20, 1971, he married the former Debbie Kurtz, who survives. Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Marshal was a 1966 graduate of Muncy High School, a 1970 graduate of Penn State University and then studied diligently for his CLU and ChFC designations. Marshal was a second generation insurance agent, serving the Muncy community with State Farm for over 37 years, retiring in 2008.
He was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, Muncy, where he served as treasurer of the building fund for the new building, on the finance committee and as a trustee. Marshal was a 32 degree mason and a member of the Muncy Lodge #299, F & AM. He was a charter member of the Muncy Area Kiwanis Club, a member of the West Branch Chorale and was an exhausted rooster of the former Muncy Jaycees. Marshal served on the Muncy Cemetery Board until 2022 and on the Old Emmanuel Board.
In his earlier years, you could find him at his alma matter, Penn State, watching football; playing on his tractors at Turner Hill Tree Farm; and enjoying camping trips and many trips around the world. Marshal was fond of hunting and fishing through the years; making several trips to the western states with his hunting buddies Ray, Lewie, Wayne and Gary, and many PA hunting seasons at The Buck Stops Here on the family farm. He enjoyed many years of traveling to Loon Lodge in Canada and The Villages in Florida. Marshal loved watching his seven grandchildren playing their favorite sports and excelling in school.
Surviving in addition to wife are four children and their spouses, Jennifer and Michael Freehorn, twins, Dawn and Mark Evans and Valerie and Thomas Gordner, and Matthew and Nichole Frye, all of Muncy; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne E. and Martha Frye, of Vestal, NY; and seven grandchildren, Abigail, Mya, Hope, Marshal “MT”, Max, Brock and Dane.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Wanda Pauling.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with his pastor the Rev. Richard Robinson, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Muncy Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Walter F. Smith Foundation Trust Fund, c/o the First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, PA 17756.
