Martha J. Berge

Martha J. Berge, 66, of 324 Berge Lane, Winfield, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at her home.
She was born September 3, 1947 in Susquehanna, a daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian (Depoe) Barnes. On March 8, 1962 she married Jan Berge, who survives. Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Martha attended Lewisburg high school. She worked as a service manager and office clerk at her son’s business, Jake’s Auto Care, Milton.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Mifflinburg, where she was a Sunday school teacher and church treasurer.
Martha loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, Jan Berge Jr. and wife Lori, of Lewisburg, Karen Dix and husband Gary, of Collegeville and David Berge, of Portland, OR; six brothers and four sisters-in-law, Clyde Barnes and wife Lorine, of Windsor, NY, Albert Barnes and wife JoAnn, Tom Barnes, John Barnes, Fred Barnes and wife Johnine, and Raymond Barnes and wife Linda, all of Susquehanna; two sisters, Florence Hogentogler, of Winfield and Marian Slocum, of Susquehanna; five grandchildren, Jacob Berge and wife Kayla, Bethany Berge, Andrea Lindow, Drew Lindow and wife Tricia, and Bryanna Dix.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five brothers, Herb, Donald, Roger, Alvin and Henry Barnes.
Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, 332 E Chestnut St, Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with her minister, Pastor Shawn McLain, officiating.
Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Winfield, with Chaplain James R. Taylor of Sun Home Health and Hospice, performing the committal.
The family will provide the flowers, and suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 332 E Chestnut St, Mifflinburg, PA 17844 or to Sun Home Hospice, P.O. Box 232, Northumberland, PA 17857.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
