Martha L. Cronrath

November 18, 1921 — March 28, 2017

Martha Louise Cronrath, age 95, went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 28, 2017 at Loyalsock Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

She was born November 18, 1921 in Allenwood, a daughter to Lewis and Pearl (Shutt) Johnson.  After the untimely death of her mother when Martha was a toddler, she was raised in the loving home of Elizabeth and Roscoe Hain.

Martha was a 1939 graduate of Watsontown High School and married C. Max Cronrath on December 4, 1942.  They enjoyed 47 years of marriage prior to Max’s death in 1990.

She is survived by three daughters and their families, Elizabeth Kay and husband Ivan Farley, of Elimsport, Bonnie Bee Porter, widow of D. Gary Porter, of Williamsport and Linda J. and husband Robert P. Daubert, of Watsontown. She had seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Martha was faithful to her creator, serving him throughout her life. She was an active member of the Watsontown United Methodist Church for many years, and joined the First Presbyterian Church of Watsontown late in life. She was also a member of the Watsontown Guild. Martha was an avid bridge player, participating in several clubs. She was a wonderful cook and her family ate like kings! No matter what Max brought home from the hunt or harvested from his garden, Martha would create a tasty meal for all to enjoy. She was a talented seamstress, devoted homemaker, gracious hostess, and no one baked a more delicious pie! She was an elegant lady and her life revolved around her family and home.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

If so desired, contributions in Martha’s name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 401 Main Street, Watsontown, PA 17777.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main Street, Watsontown.
