Martha L. Messerly

Martha L. Messerly, 101, of Muncy, died Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Muncy Place.

Born November 2, 1921 in Burlington, IN, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Grace (Rodkey) Bowman.

Martha graduated high school in Burlington, IN and later worked as an agent for Goedert Real Estate in MI, before moving to California where she sold real estate and worked as a school teacher.  Martha also sold Avon for 40 years.

She was a charter member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Lafayette, IN, and later a member of the First United Methodist Church, Adrian, MI.

Martha was a friendly face in Adrian, MI, where she would volunteer welcoming new people to town.  She later volunteered at the La Quinta Library and McCallum Theatre, both in CA.

Martha was a Boy Scout den mother, a 4H Leader, and enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Surviving are four children, Danforth Messerly, of Jackson, MI, Larry Joe Messerly, of LaCrosse, WI, Rebecca Messerly Sanguedolce, of Montgomery, and Wendy Jean Hockman, of Auburn Hills, MI; one sister, Rosemary Bowman Austin Dimitt, of Banning, CA; eleven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a one daughter, Peggy Ann Peltier; one brother, Joseph Bowman; and two sisters, Dora Caroline Bowman and Dorothy Mae High

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
